Despitefully Used
Have you ever been despitefully used? I have. One case would be one of last two spinal surgeries when the doctors chose money over me.
During my second to last spinal surgery, the doctors chose to put in eight "cages" and screws in my spine that have a 50% failure rate. And they failed.
Seven things went grievously wrong - including the fact that nothing had fused. Neither doctor admitted wrong doing or offered to help.
Over the next eight years, the equipment they chose to use chaffed and rubbed my muscles, bones and nerves - bringing me close to paralysis.
I was in horrific constant pain, had to take more opiates and narcotics than anyone my size or weight and was in bed for most of 8 years.
I missed my children growing up, many soccer games, birthday parties - and finally had a 14-hour spinal reconstruction surgery.
Afterwards I flatlined, was in a coma for a week and proceeded on to years and years of physical therapy, excessive pain and many more years of drug withdrawal.
Today, I still suffer great pain because of their decisions to do the fastest, cheapest method - putting more money in their own pockets - while almost taking my life on this earth.
So here’s the deal, God tells us to forgive so that we also may be forgiven. But He also tells us the following:
"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and PRAY FOR THEM WHICH DESPITEFULLY USE YOU, and persecute you;
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.” (Matthew 5:44,45 KJV)
In praying for those doctors, I have been better able to forgive.
And why forgive? Those doctors almost took my life, but they cannot have my spirit and soul. They cannot have my joy. They cannot have my freedom to love others and enjoy my life.
Who has hurt you? Who has used you? Begin the process of forgiveness, but also move on to pray for the ones who have wronged you.
Prayer releases the hold that evil would like to have in order to warp your future.
Your prayer for “enemies” gives you the power to break free from being the victim, the defeated, the loser.
Forgiveness and prayer opens the heavens for God to bless your life and restore the years that were stolen from you (Joel 2:25)! But restoration, divine gifts and blessings can only be received by those ready and willing.
Love your enemies.
Bless them that curse you.
Pray for those who despitefully use you and persecute you.
That you may be the child of your Father in Heaven.
